Who we are

SpotBack ("the app") is made by Clever Software and Media LLC ("we"). Contact: support@getspotback.com.

What the app stores, and where

The app stores the spots you save on your iPhone: room, parking, locker and seat details, the place name, any note you add, the photo you took, and, for parking, the location where you saved it. This information is kept in the app's private storage. We do not operate any server that receives it, and we cannot see it.

Photos are copied into the app's private folder. They are never saved to your photo library. When an item is cleared, it stays in History for 7 days and is then deleted from your iPhone, together with its photo.

If you have iCloud Backup turned on in your iPhone settings, your iPhone's own backup may include the app's data. That backup is made by Apple, not by the app, and is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it does not include any third-party analytics or advertising tools. If you have chosen in your iPhone settings to share crash reports with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash information. That is controlled by Apple and by you.

Permissions and Apple services

Camera

Used to read numbers from a photo you take. The text is read on your iPhone using Apple's on-device text recognition. Photos are not uploaded anywhere.

Location (only while using the app)

Used to save where you parked, so the app can give you walking directions back. The app also asks Apple Maps what kind of place you're at (for example an airport or stadium), so long-stay parking isn't cleared too early. These Apple Maps requests, and the walking directions, are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Your locations are not sent to us.

Notifications

Reminders, such as a locker about to run out, are scheduled on your iPhone. No notification server is involved.

Widgets, Live Activities and Apple Watch

To show your spots on the lock screen, home screen and Apple Watch, the app shares them with its own widget and Watch app, directly on your devices. Nothing passes through our servers.

SpotBack Plus purchases

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your name, Apple ID, or payment details. The app only checks with Apple whether Plus is active.

Deleting your information

You can clear or delete any item in the app, and cleared items are deleted automatically after 7 days. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your iPhone. Earlier iPhone backups may still contain a copy until they are replaced or deleted in your iCloud settings.

Children

The app is a general-audience utility. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. If a future version of the app ever collects information, we will explain it here before that version is released.
